Nurse Practitioners

Margaret BrettMargaret Brett
I qualified as a registered nurse in 1982 and have had very varied nursing experience since this time. I joined the practice in 1996 as a treatment room nurse where I developed a particular interest and expertise in the prevention and management of heart disease. My recent professional development has been to progress to the role of nurse practitioner where I manage both chronic disease and minor illness. This role is well supported by all of the GP's who provide advice and guidance when required.

Kellymarie Toussaint (f)

Specialist Nurse Practitioner with BSc (Hons) Nurse Practitioner degree and BSc (Hons) Specialist Practice Degree

I have a vast sphere of knowledge and skills, having worked at West Suffolk Hospital A&E, Riverside Minor Injuries Unit and more recently in the Emergency Department at Ipswich Hospital. I believe in patient centred care with effective communication being essential to provide the best possible care, support and guidance, whilst ensuring "you", the patient, are involved.

I am looking forward to working in General Practice and getting to know each patient as an individual, with my aim being to work together to deliver the best possible care, thus providing a positive patient experience.

I qualified in 1987 from North East Essex School of nursing, and then began working within acute Medicine. I then moved to Ipswich where I worked as a staff Nurse at Ipswich Hospital within care of the elderly, coronary care and endoscopy. In between this I had my two sons, and with family support I was able to continue with my work.

I then decided to change direction, and began work as practice nurse in general practice in Bury St Edmunds. Soon after this I began working at Barrack lane in April 2003. Since then I have completed my Asthma Diploma and generally enjoy all aspects of my work. My outside interests are keeping fit, music, cooking and walking my dog Charlie

I qualified in 2001 from the University of Surrey with a BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing and then began working first in a Medical Assessment Unit and then in Accident and Emergency. After awhile I caught the travelling bug and went to Australia to work for a year. When I returned to the UK I decided not to go back to the hospital but to work within the community as a District Nurse.

In 2005 I began working at Barrack Lane as a Practice Nurse. Since then I have qualified as a nurse prescriber and cover a wide range of clinics but mainly focus on those patients with chronic conditions. I recently completed a physical assessment course, which I am using to develop my skills within minor illness consultations. I really enjoy all aspects of nursing within general practice but my areas of interest are wound management, travel health and diabetes.
