A useful example of such a group is BACUP which stands for British Association of Cancer United Patients and their families and friends, 3 Bath Place, Rivington Street, London, EC2A 3JR. Freephone 0800 181199. It is a nationwide telephone cancer information service and also had a wide range of free booklets on most forms of cancer.

Nearly all illnesses will have a support group, so just ring the above number and ask.
