Get active with parkrun and parkwalk
Our practice supports parkrun, a free, friendly community initiative that encourages people of all ages and abilities to stay active, improve their health, and connect with others.
What is parkrun?
parkrun is a free, weekly 5km walk, jog, run, or volunteer event held in local parks and open spaces. It is open to everyone and is completely free to take part in.
In Suffolk, there are now 19 parkrun events and 10 junior parkrun events, making it easy to find one near you.

What is parkwalk?
parkwalk is a welcoming part of parkrun that encourages walking rather than running. It is perfect for anyone who is new to exercise, returning after a break, or simply prefers a gentle pace.
It is free, inclusive, and supportive—no pressure, just movement at your own pace.
Why we recommend parkrun and parkwalk
Regular physical activity can help improve:
- Heart health
- Mental wellbeing
- Energy levels
- Long-term health conditions
parkrun is also often recommended by healthcare professionals as part of “social prescribing” to help people become more active in a safe and enjoyable way.
